My sailor enjoyed another port recently. I don't have any pictures to share yet, but here is a picture of him. He seems to be doing well. Happy New Year My Love!!

Another Day on the Nimitz

I got these great pictures of the water from my sailor this morning. He said that he had heard there were dolphins outside to he rushed to take pictures to send to me but by the time he made it up there the dolphins were gone.

I can only imagine what the sunsets are like out there. Nature is so amazing and beautiful.


We try to exchange pictures with each other. Not that we could forget what the other looked like. It's just hard not being together everyday.

Care Packages for My Sailor

What Every Sailor Looks Forward To:

Care Packs

I love sending my sailor care packs each month. I enjoy picking out the items to send him and I enjoy packing the boxes. I encourage everyone to send their servicemen/women care packs! I usually use the flat rate large boxes found at the post office. It's around $11 to mail.

This time I had to use 2 boxes. The flatrate box and a large box I bought at Walmart.

And of course STICKERS!! I always put stickers on all the boxes I send.

My sailor requested his hair trimmer, pain reliever, pain reliever with a sleep aid, and stuff for
when he's feeling under the weather (Vitamin C tabs, sinus/cold med, and cough drops).

A pillow. Yes!! I want him to get good rest. He works hard.

I put together a study guide for my sailor to study for the asvab. He wants to retake it for a better score. I'm so proud of him! Hopefully the binder I put together will help him. I also packed pens/pencils/highlighters and note cards.

Often my sailor misses out on meals due to standing watch or having duty. Or the chow lines are extremely long. I can't send him everything I want to send, but I sure try. I like to send him items he can have for breakfast (granola bars, breakfast bars, and muffins). For snacks (craisins, banana chips, salted almonds). For sinful snacks (cookies, lemonheads, milk duds, and starbursts). He loves beef jerky so I always make sure I send that. And I try to add another protein (I can't think of anything other than summer sausage). He doesn't eat tuna. And for when he misses meals or can't stand waiting in line, I have included Hormel microwave dinners (like beef stew, pot roast, chicken and dumplings), mac 'n cheese, and noodles (there are Asian flavored ones and Italian ones). And since it's the holidays, I added Hershey miniatures and a toffee chocolate orange.

Oh I added bath tissue, because I remember during one deployment they ran out of it on the entire ship!

Christmas Wishes

'Tis the Season....

My sailor received some Christmas cards today from his side of the family. PaPa and Grandma sent the gold Santa card and his Dad sent the other card. Having our loved ones think of us during the holidays is the best gift. Family is a blessing. Thank you for thinking about our Sailor during this time.

Grill Day

The ship got to enjoy some good food and fun. My sailor said they were served grilled steaks and other goodies. And it looks like our service people got to have some fun playing what looks like some pretty silly games.

Finally...A Break From the Ship

Back In Dubai

It's been a couple of years since my sailor has stepped foot in Dubai. From his last visit, he could not stop raving about one particular restaurant that he went to. So this time around, he had to go back and have one of their delicious steak dinners. He said it was everything he remembered it to be: the best steak dinner he's ever had.

Coronado

Yesterday, I stopped by the base to see if anything has changed. I don't ever go there when my sailor is deployed. I did notice that the bases were now doing 100% ID checks at the gates. And there is a lot of road construction going on around the area as you leave the base. It was a big of an obstacle course.

I quickly headed to where the Nimitz is usually docked. Here is the picture of the building (I'm guessing their supply building?) next to where they are usually docked. I am reminded of all the times I would drop off my sailor for his short underway trips.

This is where the Nimitz is suppose to be. When I drove up to this parking lot and saw the carrier, I was reminded of my sailor's ship.


I believe this is the USS Ronald Reagan. Looks like there is a lot of work being done on it.

I drove around the base and took pictures. I was lucky I didn't get pulled over for taking pictures. I remember taking pictures outside of the Great Lakes base and security asked us to stop. It was a bit cloudy and cold yesterday. After my drive around the base, I headed for the beach on Coronado and toured their downtown area. I love Coronado, it's so beautiful and romantic.

Working Hard

He's been telling me about a part that they have been working on for 2 weeks now.

I wonder if this is the part that's giving them problems.

He's been working so hard for 6 straight days. Hardly getting any rest.

I wonder if this is what they do for laughs in the shop.

Remembering...

...the first time we went to the beach together. San Diego is beautiful. I miss him. He'll be home soon.

History Paper

He's been taking a History class on the ship. I'm not sure what the format is, whether it's a class setting or online. He recently turned in his first written paper. I don't have a copy of his final paper to post but I read the rough draft and it was great.

Notice he got a 91!!!! I'm so proud of him! Great Job Honey!!

Morale Booster

Navy Challenge Coins

Sean sent me this picture recently. These are the coins he has received on this current deployment. I think they are amazing. Sean works hard and does his job very well. These coins prove that he's appreciated on the ship.

A Special Day (For Us)

I got these pictures from him and quickly posted them. Yesterday was our special day.

I love it when he smiles and laughs.

This deployment is going by quick, but still seems like he's been gone forever.

I think that's his work locker. What a great husband, he has my picture taped up in his locker.

Bahrain

Land Ho!

This does not look like a fun bus ride.

He went out with a group of friends. They explored the shopping center. He wanted to show me they had the same stores over there as we do here (Sanrio, Forever 21). He also said there were many expensive boutiques of local designers.
